Happy 4th of July week, Warriors! There’s something fun about this holiday isn’t there? I love the fact that we can put aside whatever divides us to celebrate what unites us. We are Americans. #sameteam

I was raised in a patriotic family. In fact my favorite service at our church every year involved the Armed Forces Medley. Every time a new branch’s march would start, men and women all over the audience would stand. Some would salute. Some held hands over hearts. Many of them had fought in World War II or Vietnam. They had seen…a lot. So much that I couldn’t fathom. And I would always tear up as we clapped.

To me, these men and women were a picture of courage, sacrifice, and honor. They loved what was behind them so much that they braved a nightmare before them to keep home safe. Heroes.

I think these qualities are worth preserving. It’s why so many of my books focus on strength at our core. Heart of a Warrior, Heart of a Lion — these are series based on character and characters that embody courage and heart and hope, or are learning to embody these things.
