A Book and a Baby Due in 2025

Our little family has had a lot going on as we stepped back into school season for my husband. Then cue gymnastics for Little Miss (it may be the cutest thing ever watching 3 year olds try to be coordinated). Little Man is growing and RUNNING everywhere. Keeping up with him when we are out and about has turned into a full time job. The kid will not be contained.
Then there’s the writing front. I had a fun meeting with my publisher, editor, and the other authors for my collection recently, where we discussed our stories and characters in depth. I will hereby refer to this lovely group of authors as The Maples (since we are writing a book set in Maple Lake, Minnesota. Don’t google it. We made it up).
Y’all, I am excited about this town and all the fun stories to come. And I love that you will get to meet other authors in the process. I have started working on my first book for this collection, which is due in February. It’s been a learning curve for me since I decided to write about two hockey players. While I love watching hockey, I have no clue about the rules or the game. For the love! I just like watching them play. But turns out, I needed to learn a little more. So with the help of Hockey for Dummies and a few other sources, my hockey players are ready to glide (maybe fall down a few times) onto the page.
We’ve also been cooking up another little project in our home. Hence why you didn’t hear from me the last couple months.
Send all the prayers!
I will say the Lord is definitely showing me his strength in weakness and reminding me that my goal isn’t to get through this season, but to sink in. Isn’t that a helpful reminder? Scripture constantly reminds us to rest and not rush, to look for what God wants to show us instead of getting to the next thing.
That’s been a big lesson with this book. I have a note on my desk reminding me to SINK IN. I want to sink in to each scene to add character development, problems, goals, and sensory details. Even though I need to get words on the page (and fast), I want them to be words worth reading even more.
Since I started this author journey, my prayer has been that the Lord will use each book to impact at least one reader in a big way. I am thankful the Lord led me to that prayer. But I also believe he is a big God and desires to do big things in and through us. He is also a God who desires that we ask Him…and then faithfully follow through with what he calls us to. So I’m praying big. Trying to dream big (through my exhaustion). And trusting that the God who gave me the gift of story will be faithful to put this one into the hands of many. Or at least the many who need a sweet read and the encouragement this one will contain.
