The Best Work

Our newest Little Mister is in the house, and for those who weighed in on the hair color debate, here’s what I’ll tell ya: it depends on the lighting and what part of his head you are looking at. We see brown, blonde, and red all sprinkled in. He’s a sweet, go-with-the-flow baby so far, and we love having him!
As my husband continues to remind me, we are now outnumbered and running a zone defense. I think we are just becoming experts in dependence on the Lord and managing crazy. Three under age 4 is a lot.
With every year of our marriage and kiddo we have added, the Lord continues to teach me that he doesn’t automatically give me the capacity I feel like I need to handle everything. He slowly grows my dependence on him and my capacity to handle what he has called me to, one kiddo, one circumstance, one day (sometimes one hour) at a time.
It reminds me of what Jesus says in Matthew 6:34: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Or in my version, sufficient for the day is its own to do list, even when my kids mean the list doesn’t get finished. They are the best work.
There were some crazy changes to my Maple Lake series while I have been healing and snuggling our newest little love. Soon, I’ll be able to introduce you to some new authors that joined the line. I’m excited for their stories!
My publisher, editor, and I also decided that instead of trying to write two books for this cozy romance series, I’m going to focus on one set in the winter. I’m about to dive back into edits (pray for me!). Honestly, having a baby and a book due in one year is more than enough to tackle. Hopefully, I’ll have even more books to come later, but for now, I’ll focus on the one and tell all the other story ideas swirling in my head to wait their turn.
One day, I’ll crank out stories faster, but for now, I’m going to live and love the season I’m in, which means slow and steady releases. I’m so thankful to partner with a team at Sunrise Publishing who has been supportive and encouraging in this process.
